Phoebe has just visited Australia covering an exclusive world first for the Telegraph.
Arriving in Heron Island in south Queensland she was the first British journalist to experience a submarine trip to visit the reef. She shared the scUber (a partnership between the state in Australia and the ride share company Uber) with pilot Erica and another journalist from the USA.
While there she also dived, snorkelled hiked around the island, met the scientists who are undertaking vital work on the reef there and learned all about an Australian professors trailblazing work into what can only be described as IVF on the Great Barrier Reef which could prove to be a vital tool box in the fight to save this incredible living organism – which has been under threat from coral bleaching caused by climate change.
